  • 11 Sep 2017 Reply from the HFA Genealogist: This is a line whom we are very familiar with. You can order my family group sheets, three at a time. We have previously published articles on this line, which we can also recommend that you order from us, at our cost.

Query #426 – Seeking info on grandmother Lois Frances (Hull) Carlson, daughter of Watt Ernest Hull: My grandmother was Lois Frances (Hull) Carlson. Her father was Watt Ernest Hull 1863–1940 and her mother was Anna Jane Walker (1866–1946). Watt Ernest Hull's father was Abraham Hull (1817–1884) and his mother was Martha W. Reynolds (1821–1895). Tracing back on ancestry.com, I believe Abraham's father was Christian Hull (1790–1812), and his father was Andrew (Andreas) Hull (Holl) Jr., and his father was Andrew (Andreas) Hull (Holl) Sr. I believe Andrew Sr. served in the Revolutionary War and his father was Johan Nicklas Holl (1685–1777, born in Germany?). Wondering if I can somehow confirm all of this.

  • 19 Jun 2017 Reply from the HFA Genealogist: This is a line which we have studied in quite some depth. We have also written Journal articles on this lineage. You should order my family group sheets to fill out this line (no extra charge for these) and also perhaps order some of our past HFA Journals, which I can recommend to you. These will give you our sources in order for you to document your line.

  • 19 Jun 2017 Reply from the HFA Genealogist: We have found his burial place which is Memorian Cemetery, Wallingford, New Haven Co., CT, where a number of other Hulls were also buried. We would suggest that you look at these burials to see if any could be for Giles’ parents or siblings. We do have a possible candidate for your Giles’ parents. Please contact the HFA Genealogist Phyllis J. Hughes for more information on this.

Query #423 – Desire Info on My 5th Gt Grandparents; German Line in VA, WV: I’m looking for Catherine Hull’s (1751–1810) parentage, ever since I saw Capt. Peter Hull’s entry in Find a Grave. Catherine married Peter Zickafoose and her parents are especially important since it looks like she’s my 5th great grandmother twice. Benjamin Zickefoose and Susannah Buzzard appear to be 2nd cousins or less; they are my 3rd great grandparents. I'm looking for help to straighten out my tree.

  • 18 May 2017 Reply from the HFA Genealogist: We are showing that Catherine was a daughter of the German Peter Thomas Hohl/Hull, who immigrated here in 1741 on the ship Frances & Ann. We are recommending that you order one of our past HFA Journals, which gives very detailed info on Peter Thomas Hohl/Hull. You can also order my family group sheet on this man at no extra charge.
